What Happens When You Actually Talk About Mom Guilt

If you’re a momma, chances are you’ve experienced mom guilt many times over. It’s that dreaded feeling that shows up in a situation where you feel like any choice you make, is the wrong one. Sound familiar? It can happen for big things, small things, and anything in between.

I can tell you that at least for me, one of the reasons it happens is because I constantly struggle with the push and pull of the mom I think I ‘should’ be versus the mom that I actually am. There are the choices I want to make and then there are the choices that I feel like I ‘should’ make. It’s a constant lose lose situation that’s a heavy weight we carry, and too many of us carry it all alone.

But it doesn’t have to be that way and there are some surprising benefits to sharing where we struggle as mommas because guess what? Every mom I’ve met so far is struggling with at least one thing if not many, and so we’re most definitely not alone. There is so much relief and freedom in knowing you’re not the only one.

That’s what The Sister Joist community is all about, helping fellow mommas feel less alone and quieting the loud worries of motherhood (mom guilt included!) which is why I’m so excited to share this with you!

I was invited to be a guest on the Confessions of a Super Mom Wannabe podcast, “a podcast for women who just feel like a hot mess of coffee and dry shampoo. Each episode encourages women to pursue the best version of themselves in the midst of the chaos and imperfection that is motherhood. It’s full of inspiring guests and real stories from real women about how they found strength in imperfection, beauty in the mess, joy and peace in the midst of the fear…and how you can too”.

Tune in to the episode here or listen below, as I get to chat with host and fellow momma, Kristen Wheeler about mom guilt, the biggest worries I see moms struggling with (spoiler alert, you’re probably struggling with at least one of them but know that you’re definitely not alone) , what the heck a sister joist actually is (all the thanks to Glennon Doyle!), how the incomparable Brené Brown helped shape this community, and the powerful story that revealed a life-altering truth you might be struggling with as well.

And be sure to click here to get more helpful tips and tools like this, incredible encouragement and some mom humor thrown in for good measure, lol.
